Every gram counts. Our engineers scrutinise each component until it is as light and as strong as possible. This relentless pursuit is a core part of the McLaren DNA helping the new 675LT Spider achieve an incredible 100 kg saving over the 650S Spider.

BODY PANELS

The extensive use of carbon fibre is applied to the new front splitter, side skirts, body side panels, rear fender, rear deck, rear bumper, Longtail Airbrake and diffuser saving, a total of 35 kg over a standard 650S Spider.

CHASSIS

At the heart of the 675LT is a carbon fibre MonoCell. Inspired by our Formula 1™ innovation, this incredibly strong tub weighs just 75 kg, yet is far stronger than steel and 27% stiffer than a comparable aluminium chassis.

POWERTRAIN

The 675LT uses the M838TL engine with 50% new engine components over the 650S saving 6 kg from the powertrain while a bespoke titanium exhaust saves a further 1.1 kg.

INTERIOR & ELECTRICAL

Even more weight savings have been made inside the Spider. Standard fit race seats save 15 kg, special Alcantara® trim is lighter than leather, and air-conditioning (which can be requested as a no cost option) saves a further 16 kg when removed.

AIR CONTROL

Aerodynamics have forged the 675LT’s dramatic shape to provide optimum levels of downforce and cooling. The airflow is worked to maximum efficiency across, beneath and through the bodywork.

FRONT AIRFLOW

The front splitter is 80% larger than on the 650S and works the air harder. Our Formula 1™ style front wing end plates increase downforce over the front bodywork to improve turn-in motion and steering sharpness.

SIDE SKIRTS & RADIATORS

The carbon fibre full-length side skirts help guide cool air into the larger side intakes and the new lower side intakes in order to aid engine cooling.

LONGTAIL AIRBRAKE

The 675LT airbrake is 50% larger than on other Super Series models, yet its carbon fibre construction makes it weigh less. When downforce is required, it deploys to maximise stability. Under hard acceleration the airbrake lowers to minimise drag.

FRONT & REAR TRACK

The front and rear track has been widened by 20 mm, improving grip levels and agility. A 20 mm lower ride height at the front increases rake angle, expelling air at the rear more efficiently, while the rear diffuser is enhanced for improved downforce.
